April 5, 2004. Irene spent the weekend setting up one section of residential housing by the lake. It was so frustrating to rip up the old layout when we moved, so - just in case - Irene is working with modular sections as much as possible. The new section will go in front of the lake to your left. The area is pictured below.

Below is the section being worked on. It consists of houses from the last layout that have been cleaned up and re-detailed. One large house was split into two. The orange house furthest to the back is N scale. This is done purposely to give a feeling of distance (The white house in the above photo is also N.) The orange house was ripped off the old layout in its existing elevation, which was leveled and glued onto the new 1" foam board. The white plaster is the new roadway which will hopefully blend in with the old one. The houses are at three different heights.

And the nearly finished, lit section is in place below!  It won't be done until the surrounding sections are fit in since they may or may not be the same height.
